Cynthia P. Schneider is an American diplomat who was the former United States Ambassador to the Netherlands. After graduating from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, she went on be involved in a number of exhibitions and publications specializing in Dutch Renaissance and Baroque Art. In 1998, she joined the Department of State as the Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where she led initiatives in cultural diplomacy and education, among other things. In 2001 she was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defence Public Service Award. She serves on the board of several museums and initiatives and teaches in courses in Diplomacy and Culture in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
