Ruth Davidson MSP is leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, MSP for Edinburgh Centraland, since the 2016 elections, leader of the opposition in the Scottish parliament. After graduating from The University of Edinburgh, and before becoming involved in politics, Ms Davidson worked for The Glenrothes Gazette as a trainee reporter and then worked for Kingdom FM and Real Radio – she then joined BBC Scotland in 2002 where she worked as a radio journalist, producer and reporter. She left the BBC after seven years to study International Development at the University of Glasgow – where she then joined the Conservative Party. From 2010 to early 2011 Davidson worked as the head of the private office of the former Scottish Conservative leader, Annabel Goldie, and then went on to become leader of the party later that year.
