Meg Jensen is an Associate Professor of English literature and Creative Writing at Kingston University London. Ms Jensen’s research surrounds representations of human rights violations and traumatic experiences in narrative form and the social, cultural and gendered contexts in which such works are produced. Recently, she has focused on the role of life-story writing in supporting survivors of trauma, including her recent project assessing the effectiveness of expressive writing methodologies in supporting the well-being of female victims of sexual violence in conflict in Iraq. Her current work, ‘Negotiated Truths: The Art and Science of Trauma and the Autographical’ explores a range of narrative forms from testimony to graphic novels and poetry, considering the relationship between such works and current behavioral, psychological and neurochemical approaches to diagnosing and treating traumatic disorders.
