Alison Weir has been the biggest-selling female historian (and the fifth best-selling historian) in the United Kingdom since records began in 1997. She has published twenty-three titles and sold more than 2.7 million books – over a million in the UK and more than 1.7 million in the USA. Her best-known books, including Mary, Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley, immerse into women’s perspectives, experiences and lives. Before becoming a full-time writer in 1997, she worked in Civil service management and ran her own school for children with learning difficulties. Since 2006 she has also published five novels and, in 2014, signed a contract for six novels on the wives of Henry VIII – a topic she already wrote a monumental history book about.
Events participated in:
Mary, Queen of Scots, and the Murder of Lord Darnley: After the murder of her secretary, Mary, Queen of Scots and Lord Darnley stayed at Traquair House.
