Joost Hiltermann is the Chief Operating Officer of International Crisis Group and was formerly the Deputy Program Director, Middle East and Africa for the same. Having contributed to publications including the New York Review of Books, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, the Financial Times, Middle East Report, he has also served as the Executive Director of the Arms Division and Director of the Iraq Documents Project at Human Rights Watch. He has been a board member for the Center of Civilians in Conflict and an advisory board member for the Arab Regional Office for the Open Society Foundations.
