Robert Dann is Chief of the Mediation Support Unit at the UN Department of Political Affairs. Hegraduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts in 1993 and a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours in 1995. He won a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship and attended Magdalen College, Oxford, where he gained a Master of Philosophy in International Relations in 1999. After Oxford, Robert began his career with the United Nations, helping establish a humanitarian affairs office in Belgrade after the NATO Operation “Allied Force” in 1999. In 2000, he became the Special Assistant to the Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus. In this position, he was intimately involved in negotiating with all parties and developing the terms of the ‘Annan Plan’, the UN peace plan submitted to referendum in Cyprus in April 2004 after a five year peace process. In 2003, Robert became a speech writer to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
