Sarah Smith is a radio and television news reporter with BBC Scotland. She graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1989 and then began her journalistic career as a graduate trainee with BBC Scotland. In 1991, she moved to London as an assistant producer with BBC Youth Programmes before moving on to working in news and current affairs, first as assistant producer with the Public Eye and Here & Now programmes and then working on Newsnight and Rough Guides with the BBC. She also sits on the John Smith Memorial Trust’s Advisory Council.
