Beyond Borders is shocked and saddened by the news of Marie Colvin`s death in Homs today, along with French photographer Remi Ochlik. Marie was a brilliant and courageous journalist who insisted on getting to the heart of the situation and staying with those worst affected, rather than leaving them stranded.

Marie made a moving and inspiring contribution to Beyond Border`s 2011 programme with her perspective from the ground in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya during the Arab Spring, and in particular of the effects of the uprisings on women in Misrata . These sessions including Marie can be found in the Video and Podcast section of our website.

Beyond Borders will be paying tribute to Marie this summer at Books Borders and Bikes in August 2012.
